Colombia into Copa América quarter-finals with win over Paraguay
Davinson Sánchez and Jhon Córdoba score second-half goals to send Colombia through
Colombia booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Copa América Centenario with a 3-0 win over Paraguay at MetLife Stadium on Saturday.
Davinson Sánchez opened the scoring for Colombia in the 57th minute, heading home a corner from James Rodríguez. Jhon Córdoba doubled the lead three minutes later, finishing off a move involving Rodríguez and Edwin Cardona.
Colombia were dominant throughout the match, and they could have won by more goals. They had several chances to score in the first half, but they were unable to find the net.
Paraguay improved in the second half, but they were unable to create any clear-cut chances. Colombia goalkeeper David Ospina was rarely tested.
Colombia will now face Peru in the quarter-finals on Thursday.
