Ménière's Disease Strikes Musician

Singer Reveals Diagnosis and Impact on Career

Legendary singer and musician Huey Lewis has revealed that he has been diagnosed with Ménière's disease, a debilitating inner ear disorder that has caused him significant hearing loss.

Lewis, best known for his hits such as "The Power of Love" and "Hip to Be Square," experienced a sudden onset of symptoms while on tour in 2018. He initially dismissed it as tinnitus, but further tests confirmed the diagnosis of Ménière's disease.

The disorder affects the balance and hearing systems of the inner ear, causing episodes of vertigo, tinnitus, and hearing loss. While the exact cause is unknown, it is believed to be related to an abnormal accumulation of fluid in the inner ear.
