Riots Erupt in Leeds, Police Car Overturned
Unrest and Disorder Rock Harehills Area
Crowds gathered in the Harehills area of Leeds on Sunday afternoon, leading to a night of chaos and violence. A police car was overturned and a double-decker bus was gutted by flames, as hundreds of people took to the streets.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 5pm, following reports of disturbances in the area. A large number of police officers were deployed, and a riot van was seen clashing with protestors.
Local residents have been urged to stay at home, as police continue to battle the rioters. The area was also the site of the Harehills Riot in 2001, which was sparked by the wrongful arrest of an Asian man.
